​Acute vs Chronic Pain


 Acute Painis defined as pain that lasts less than 3 months in duration. It involves injury to soft tissue (muscles, tendons and ligaments) with full recovery expected. Example: sprained ankle, back sprain, muscle bruising, body aches and weekend warrior injuries.  Treatment protocols for acute pain injuries are listed online at the American College of Physicians.

       Chronic Pain, defined as pain lasting beyond 3 months and failed non-opioid alternative care plans.

Pain is long lasting, progressive in nature with fluctuating intensities. Your pain lasts beyond the expected

3-month healing time. Treatment protocols are complex and require individual assessments by pain physicians.

There are numerous clients who suffer from Chronic Pain and never had proper treatment. 

 Opioid care is not the answer for all pain management clients. We reserve the right to determine your care plan. First line alternative non-opioid care, second opinions with other related pain physicians, physical therapy and the latest in pain reduction with platelet therapy, red light therapy and low laser light pain care. Those who have failed previous conserative care will be considered for more agressive opioid care at the lowest effective dosages with adjustments as needed.

 Is your pain Acute or Chronic?

  The State of Florida only allows 3-7 days of FDA approved medical care for Acute Pain.

Chronic Pain Care is determined by your treating physician. 

At Boca Pain Management we offer Individual Pain Care. 

Your treatment options will be discussed with our physician after reviewing your prior physician treatment visits, MRI's, CT scans, surgical reports, E-Force and physical examination.

  ​Our physicians will discuss your plan of care which adheres to the guidelines of the State of Florida. Your treatment plan may require new updated MRIs, Ct scans and second opinions from other specialists to determine the best options for your chronic pain management.
